Starting School Year 2025-2026, SLSDB will implement the updated DepEd Order No. 15, s. 2025, which extends Kindergarten eligibility to children who turn five on or before October 31, instead of the previous June 1 cut-off by DepEd Order No. 20, s. 2018.
To enroll in Kindergarten, a child must have completed an Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) program from a DepEd-recognized institution. Those with birthdays between November 1 and December 31 may still qualify, with conditions based on DepEd Order No. 15, s. 2025, which includes presenting a Completion Certificate. This policy aims to broaden access to formal education and ensure smoother progression to Grade 1.
